Jelani Fenton
Founder & CEO, Safari
Jelani Fenton is the Founder & CEO of Safari, a workforce development technology company that is building a modern solution to address the insurance industry talent shortage. Jelani started his career as a commercial insurance broker in Marsh's leadership development program. He subsequently transitioned into roles as an investment banker at Evercore covering insurance companies and as an underwriting manager at Rhino, a venture capital funded insurance technology company. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, College Park and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
Stacey Brown
Head of Global Technology and Innovation, AXA XL & Founder of InsurTech Hartford
Stacey is an insurance technology executive with a strong tech background with over 20 years industry experience developing high-performing IT teams and strategic solutions. Atop his responsibilities as an IT executive, Stacey is most recently known for his role in jumpstarting the one of the world’s most successful InsurTech ecosystems, InsurTech Hartford. Stacey also is a mentor and advisor to InsurTech startups who also invests in early and growth stage companies.
Myra Brown
Marketing Associate, InsurTech Hartford
Myra is a college student at Manchester Community College studying Accounting & Business Administration and will further her education for a bachelor’s in business. She has been working closely with InsurTech Hartford for the past year to learn more about the InsurTech industry.
Sarah Dillingham
Senior Meteorologist & Senior Director of Product Development, Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety (IBHS)
Sarah is currently the Sr. Director for Product Design & IBHS Meteorologist which leads the team responsible for helping communicate IBHS’s science to a wide range of audiences. Prior to joining IBHS, she spent nearly 9 years at The Weather Channel where she served as a Senior Weather Producer, producing for several shows, including the popular Weather Underground show and the WXGeeks Podcast. She has also worked as a weather producer at CNN in Atlanta, and spent time as an on-air broadcast meteorologist at The Weather Channel and KLBK in Lubbock, TX. Sarah has been active in the American Meteorological Society where she served as a member of the Membership Committee and was also selected to be part of the society’s inaugural class of the Early Career Leadership Academy. She holds a B.S. in Geography with a concentration in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Georgia and a M.S. in Atmospheric Science from Texas Tech where she participated in the 2009-2010 seasons of the VORTEX2 project. At Texas Tech, her research work focused on the upscale growth of high precipitation supercells to mesoscale convective complexes.
Gillian Maccrone
HR Generalist, Nassau Financial Group
Gillian is an HR Generalist at Nassau Financial Group, responsible for assisting leadership in driving Nassau’s human capital strategy, innovation, and culture. Since joining Nassau in 2018 as a Human Resources and Payroll Coordinator and also serving as an HR Administrative Manager, Gillian has driven key initiatives around culture through training and development programs and currently acts as lead of the Women of Nassau’s steering committee, an internal employee resource group.
Prior to joining Nassau, Gillian worked in both the staffing and medical industries, providing her with nine years of experience in the payroll, HR/Benefits administration, and recruitment. She attended University of Connecticut and is currently working towards the SHRM Certified Human Resources Professional designation.
Gretchen Carlson
HR Specialist, Nassau Financial Group
Gretchen Carlson is an HR Specialist at Nassau Financial Group. As an HR Specialist, Gretchen focuses on the talent management side of human resources including but not limited to recruiting, on-boarding, off-boarding, HR systems management, and other administrative tasks.
She joined Nassau Financial Group in June 2020 as part of the Corporate Internship Program and was extended an offer to become an HR Coordinator in September 2020. Gretchen was promoted to her current role in March 2022. At Nassau Gretchen is a member of the Corporate Internship Program planning team and a Steering Committee member for the Women of Nassau, one of the company’s employee resource groups.
Prior to joining Nassau, Gretchen was a student at Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts. Gretchen received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in May 2020 and her Masters in Business Administration in 2021. She stays involved with her alma mater through participating in a mentor program for female students and volunteering to speak with current students about the human resources field.
