Laura Dinan Haber serves as Innovation Program Manager for Nassau Re/Imagine, Nassau Financial Group's insurtech and retiretech incubator. Laura drives collaboration and shared business interests through dynamic programming and enhanced community relations. Prior to her role at Nassau Financial Group, she worked at the MetroHartford Alliance, the City of Hartford's Chamber of Commerce and the region's economic development leader, in a variety of roles in investor relations and marketing. She also serves as co-organizer of TEDxHartford. She earned her B.S.B.A. from University of Hartford.

 


John Wilso, UCONN School of Business

Academic Director, MS FinTech, Instructor In-Residence, University of Connecticut

John is an in-residence faculty member in the UCONN School of Business Graduate Program and is the Academic Director of the MS – Financial Technology (FinTech) program. He previously served as Director of UCONN’s Center for the Advancement of Business Analytics. As a faculty member at UCONN, he teaches a variety of graduate business courses including Visual Analytics, Advanced Project Management (Capstone) and Global Technology Management. He has also taught Predictive Modeling, Process Modeling and SQL, Management Information Systems, Engineering Management, and Cost and Risk Management. In 2017, 2018, and 2019 John was recognized as an outstanding OPIM- Analytics faculty member in UCONN’s MBA program. In 2019, John received the prestigious UCONN School of Business Excellence in Graduate Teaching Award and in 2020, the AAUP – Early Career Teaching Award. He was also a 2020 CETL nominee for Excellence in Teaching. In January of 2020, he was named Academic Director and tasked to lead the formation and implementation of a new MS program in Financial Technology (Fintech). He is also a member of the UCONN School of Business Hall of Fame. In addition to his UCONN duties, he continues to consult as a data scientist for LIMRA and is a frequent presenter at conferences worldwide. Topics he has presented on include data analytics, dashboarding and partnering with academia (collaboration and talent acquisition). John is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI) and holds AIRC and ACS industry designations.


Denise Matthews
Director of Property and Casualty Regulatory Services, National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC)

Denise Matthews is the Director of the National Association of Insurance Commissioner’s Property and Casualty Regulatory Services Department within the Regulatory Services Division. As the Director of the Department, she is responsible for providing leadership to staff responsible for numerous research and statistical publications, committee staff support primarily in the Property and Casualty arena, various insurance subject matter specialties and data collection and analysis based on data calls and aggregation of data from a variety of sources.

Ms. Matthews currently staffs the Innovation, Cybersecurity, and Technology (H) Committee, the Big Data and Artificial Intelligence (EX) Working Group and the Innovation in Technology and Regulation (H) Working Group and facilitates the Innovation and Technology State Contacts Roundtable. She also has responsibility for related sessions at the annual NAIC Insurance Summit and continues to be involved in and contributes to various other NAIC business and technology initiatives in addition to monitoring and facilitating events related to InsurTech and SupTech.

Prior to her current position, Ms. Matthews was the Director of the NAIC Information Systems Division. In that capacity she had responsibility for the overall management of application development related to the NAIC’s financial and market regulatory databases, application and data security, application architecture and methodology, enterprise services, production release, Help Desk and data administration services.

Ms. Matthews received her Bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas.

Kim Bishop is the Chief Talent Officer at the MetroHartford Alliance, the region’s business and economic development organization. In this role Kim manages the conceptualization, building, and implementation of the Alliance’s developing talent attraction strategy, AllHart, & oversees HYPE (Hartford Young Professionals & Entrepreneurs), the Alliance’s young professionals networking group in its 16th year with over 4,000 members. Prior to the Alliance, she worked for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford & Hartford Public Library. She holds a Bachelors in Human Development & Family Studies from University of Connecticut.
