HUSKY Transitional Medical Assistance (TMA)

Connecticut children and their parents or caretaker relatives who are currently active on HUSKY A and report a change in earnings that exceed the income limits, may be eligible to extend their HUSKY A benefits for one year. This extension is called Transitional Medical Assistance (TMA).

In order to qualify for TMA, the household must not have an outstanding income verification request when the increase in earnings is reported.

Examples:

Parents, who previously verified their income eligibility for HUSKY A, report a change in earned income that exceeds both the 160% FPL income threshold for HUSKY A – Parents/Caretaker Relatives and the 201% FPL income threshold for HUSKY A – Children:

  • Both parent(s) and child would now be eligible for TMA for one year

Parents, who previously verified their income eligibility for HUSKY A, report a change in earned income that exceeds the 160% FPL income threshold for HUSKY A – Parents/Caretaker Relatives but does not exceed the 201% FPL income threshold for HUSKY A – Children:

  • Parents would now be eligible for TMA for one year
  • The children would remain on HUSKY A – Children

During the extension, TMA enrollees may receive HUSKY A eligibility again if they report a decrease in income under the FPL limit.

When TMA coverage ends, enrollees have the option to be reviewed for HUSKY Health or other healthcare coverage based on their current financial circumstances.
