Lt. Governor Bysiewicz Announces that Connecticut Continues to be One of the Best-counted States in the Country with a Total Enumeration Rate of 98.6 Percent
With counting efforts for the 2020 U.S. Census set to end on Sept. 30, Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz encouraged the remaining Connecticut households to respond to the decennial questionnaire.

Lt. Governor Bysiewicz Announces Connecticut is the Sixth Best-counted State in the Country
With less than a month remaining for households to respond to the 2020 U.S. Census, Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz today announced that Connecticut’s total enumeration rate – the self-response rate plus those enumerated in nonresponse follow-up – is 91.2 percent, and encouraged the remaining nine percent of households to complete the decennial questionnaire.

Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, chairwoman of the Governor’s Council on Women and Girls, and members of the council’s Economic Opportunity and Workforce Equity Subcommittee today announced the launch of the Financial Literacy Portal— an initiative that will ensure helpful resources from state agencies are centralized and non-profits that support financial literacy are highlighted.

After receiving 372 entries for the Lt. Governor’s COVID-19 Computing Challenge, Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, Department of Education Commissioner Miguel Cardona, Department of Motor Vehicles Commissioner Sibongile Magubane, South Windsor CTE Curriculum Specialist Steven Albrecht, and members of the Council on Women and Girls Education & STEAM Subcommittee and Steering Committee today showcased 10 entries from students that have the power to create positive change during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lt. Governor Bysiewicz Announces 2020 Connecticut Census Week of Action to Encourage Hard-to-Count Communities to Complete the Questionnaire
Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz today announced that she will be holding a 2020 Connecticut Census Week of Action beginning Monday, June 22 to further engage with hard-to-count communities and encourage households to complete the decennial count.

Lt. Governor Bysiewicz, BPRC and Complete Count Committee Co-Chairs Encourage Hard-to-Count Communities to Respond to 2020 Census
Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz today joined Chairman of the legislature’s Black and Puerto Rican Caucus state Rep. Brandon McGee and Complete Count Committee Co-Chairs Reps. Chris Rosario and Pat Wilson Pheanious in encouraging households in Connecticut’s hard-to-count communities to respond to the 2020 U.S. Census to help determine the allocation of billions in federal dollars and the state’s political representation.

Gov. Lamont, Lt. Gov. Bysiewicz to Honor Fall CT Heroes At Wall of Honor Ceremony Thursday
(HARTFORD, CT) – Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, in collaboration with Governor Ned Lamont, today announced that she will host the 13th annual Connecticut Wall of Honor ceremony at the State Capitol in Hartford on Thursday, May 21, 2020, at 5:30 p.m. Due to due ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the temporary closure of the State Capitol building, in-person attendance will not be permitted among the general public, however residents are encouraged to watch the event live and in its entirety through the Connecticut Network (CT-N), which is available on cable television and online.

LT. GOVERNOR BYSIEWICZ LAUNCHES COVID-19 CODING COMPUTING CHALLENGE FOR 3-12 GRADERS
(HARTFORD, CT) - Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, joined by OPM Secretary Melissa McCaw, Education Commissioner Miguel Cardona, Department of Motor Vehicles Commissioner Sibongile Magubane, and Department of Higher Ed Executive Director Tim Larson, today announced the launch of the “Lt. Governor’s COVID-19 Computing Challenge: A statewide challenge to address a global concern.” Connecticut students in grades 3 through 12 are challenged to work individually or as a team to propose an idea for a computing technology application (functioning apps are not required). The idea for the coding challenge was inspired by the work of the Council on Women and Girls Education and STEAM Subcommittee in partnership with its Steering Committee community partners.

Lt. Governor Bysiewicz Submits Written Testimony Supporting Legislation to Protect Domestic Workers
Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz today submitted written testimony to the Labor and Public Employees Committee in support of House Bill 5276, An Act Concerning Domestic Workers. The bill would require employers of domestic workers to disclose information about working conditions and grants to domestic workers certain privacy protections, the ability to raise health concerns relating to cleaning products and protection from retaliation.

(BURLINGTON CT) – Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz and Department of Agriculture Commissioner Bryan P. Hurlburt today joined Rob Lamothe, owner of Lamothe’s Sugar House in Burlington, to participate in a ceremonial maple tapping in celebration of Connecticut’s “sweetest” time of the year, the start of maple sugaring season.

Governor Susan Bysiewicz and Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection officials are shining a spotlight on a recently upgraded confidential statewide hotline that provides domestic violence victims with extensive information, safety planning, counseling, and case management, as well as referrals to local organizations and community resources.
