Reminder: October 15 is deadline to file Connecticut individual income tax returns on extension
(Hartford, CT) – The Connecticut Department of Revenue Services (DRS) is reminding taxpayers of an important upcoming deadline. Those taxpayers who received an extension of time to file their 2020 Connecticut individual income tax returns have until Friday, October 15, 2021, to file their returns with DRS.
Taxpayers who have yet to file are encouraged to visit the DRS website for guidance regarding income tax filing requirements and obligations. The DRS encourages taxpayers and tax professionals to take advantage of the electronic filing options that are available. Not only is electronic filing safe and secure, it is the most efficient way of making payments and the fastest way for taxpayers to receive refunds.
The DRS also wants to remind those taxpayers who did not request an extension of time to file, and have yet to file a 2020 tax return, that they can generally avoid additional penalties and interest by filing the return as soon as possible and paying any taxes owed.
