DMHAS Latino Outreach
Latino Outreach Program Overview
DMHAS Latino Outreach provides regional community outreach services designed to reduce the stigma that surrounds substance use in the Latino community and to identify Latinos who have a substance use disorder for which they are not seeking treatment, or who are at risk of having a substance use disorder for which they are not likely to seek treatment. Latino Outreach workers provide informational sessions and training in traditional settings such as social service agencies as well as non-traditional settings within the Latino community to raise awareness on overdose prevention and substance use programs. Latino Outreach workers establish linkages with organizations offering services to Latinos in order to facilitate referral to such services and develop approaches that will result in greater access for the Latino population.
