On an annual basis, DMHAS submits a combined application and plan for the Community Mental Health Services (CMHS) Block Grant and the Substance Use Prevention, Treatment and Recovery Services (SUPTRS) Block Grant. The application is due for submission to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) by September 1st of each year. Block Grant funds supplement state funds for mental health and substance use services for persons across the life span. DMHAS completes this application jointly with the Department for Children and Families, which receives a portion of the CMHS Block Grant.
