Bias Motivated Crime Annual Reports
Connecticut General Statute § 29-7(m) requires that information related to crimes motived by bias or bigotry (also known as hate crimes) directed against victims perceived to be of a particular race; color; religion; ancestry; national origin; gender; sexual orientation; gender expression or identity; and/or mental or physical disability be compiled. Bias motivated crimes are not distinct or separate offenses, but are offenses motivated in whole, or in part, by the offender's bias. These data are published annually as a supplement to the Crime in Connecticut yearly report.
