How to Apply

Please be aware that at this time no active Individual Assistance (IA) declarations exist in Connecticut.

The process below explains the methods available to apply for Individuals Assistance (IA) in the event of an IA declaration:

Impacted residents in declared counties may register for FEMA assistance via telephone, Smartphone app, or through the FEMA website https://www.disasterassistance.gov. Forms of assistance may include temporary housing assistance, home repair, and disaster loans from
the Small Business Administration (SBA).

To register by phone impacted residents may call the toll-free registration number at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). If you have a speech disability or hearing loss and use a TTY, call 1-800-427-5593 directly. If you use 711 or Video Relay Service (VRS), call 1-800-621-3362.

The information needed to complete a registration includes:

  • your social security number
  • current mailing address
  • damaged home address
  • phone numbers
  • type of insurance coverage
  • total household annual income
  • routing and account number from your bank if you want to have disaster assistance funds transferred directly into your bank account
