DEMHS Region 2 is comprised of thirty (30) towns and cities located in the south-central portion of the State of Connecticut, it consists of urban, suburban and rural communities located on the shoreline and within the Connecticut River Estuary. New Haven, the largest city in this region has a large commercial and industrial economy with many of the surrounding towns comprising the southern terminus of the "New Haven-Hartford-Springfield Knowledge Corridor". The total population of DEMHS Region 2, according to 2017 DPH estimates, is 760,453.00 and the total land area of all municipalities within this region is 671 sq. miles. Each DEMHS Region has a Regional Emergency Planning Team (REPT). The Region 2 REPT is the coordinating committee for all regional activities.
