Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. In a September 14, 2017 Public Notice, DEEP issued notice of its intent to accept public comment on the three Finalist's proposals for the redevelopment of the Connecticut Solid Waste System Project until Friday, October 20, 2017.  In an October 30, 2017 Press Release, DEEP announced that the public comment period had been extended through Friday, November 24, 2017.  DEEP later extended the comment period further to December 8, 2017.  The following comments were submitted in response to this notice:
