Solid Waste Advisory Committee

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) adopted the State Solid Waste Management Plan in 2006.  This Plan was updated in 2016 and is now called the Comprehensive Materials Management Strategy . It is the basis for Connecticut’s solid waste management planning and decision-making now through to the year 2024.  Critical to the successful implementation of the Plan is the creation of a State Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC).   The purpose and responsibilities of the Agency Advisory Committee are in short to:

  • Assist the Department in implementing the Plan;
  • Identify emerging issues and solutions; and,
  • Participate in any revisions to the Plan as necessary.

SWAC membership is open to all and all meetings will be held in an open stakeholder forum.  Meetings will be held on the fourth Tuesday of certain months from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at DEEP’s Office - 79 Elm Street, Hartford, CT.  See the Advisory Committee Information and Schedule for upcoming meeting information and minutes and presentations from previous meetings.
