Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. Environmental Conservation Police are actively working to achieve accreditation through the Connecticut Accreditation program.  The purpose of accreditation is to enhance the professionalism of the Environmental Conservation Police Division through compliance with contemporary, internationally recognized standards of excellence.  These standards are managed in tiers.  Tier I, Liability Standards, are designed to assist police agencies better protect themselves, their employees, and their governing entities from liability exposure as well as enhanced delivery of service and improved public confidence in the agency. Tier II, Professional Standards, address legal requirements, management and operations. Tier III, General Management, further expands upon the Tier II Standards, addressing legal requirements, management and operations.
