Guidance is available for businesses that need to dispose of food or alcohol items damaged by flooding
HARTFORD — The Department of Consumer Protection is providing guidance for businesses impacted by severe flooding. Businesses such as restaurants, package stores, or grocery stores that sustained damage to their inventory should follow guidance for cleaning up and destroying damaged goods to prevent contaminated products from being sold.
“We know that recovery efforts from the devastating flooding that occurred will continue for several weeks, and even months,” said DCP Commissioner Bryan T. Cafferelli. “As business owners begin to move into the next stages of cleanup we want to continue to offer them as much guidance and support as we are able to. Any business owner who is unsure what to do with damaged products should reach out to our agency for assistance. We are working closely with the Department of Public Health to ensure everyone has the information and resources they need.”
The attached guidance document offers tips to business owners for proper clean up and disposal of debris and damaged products.
