OCTOBER 20, 2021 – Today, Consumer Protection Commissioner Michelle Seagull accepted a recommendation from the Medical Marijuana Program Board of Physicians to add movement disorders associated with Huntington Disease to the list of qualifying conditions for the Medical Marijuana Program.
The Board of Physicians held a public meeting October 15 to discuss potential conditions to be added to the Medical Marijuana Program. The following recommendations from the Board were accepted by the Commissioner today:

“I want to thank those who testified at the meeting and, as always, extend my gratitude to the Board of Physicians for their thoughtful discussion and deliberation,” said Consumer Protection Commissioner Michelle H. Seagull. “Our program relies on the advice and guidance we receive from the medical community, including the Board. I’m pleased with how our program has grown to support almost 54,000 current patients with severe debilitating conditions in the state. We look forward to working with the Board of Physicians to ensure the integrity of our medical program continues even with the expansion of adult-use cannabis in Connecticut.”
Movement disorders associated with Huntington Disease will be added to the Medical Marijuana Program’s today.
The new condition is the first to be added to the list of debilitating medical conditions using the new process defined in Public Act 21-1. The condition has been published on the Department of Consumer Protections website and patient’s with the condition are now permitted to be certified for the medical marijuana program if the certifying practitioners believes it is appropriate for the patient.
