Thursday, February 22nd, 2018 – On Monday, February 26th at 8:30am, the Board of Physicians will hold a public hearing to discuss the addition of four conditions to the Medical Marijuana Program. The meeting will be held at the Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) offices at 450 Columbus Boulevard, in Meeting Rooms North – B.
The conditions being considered are:
- Albinism (Nystagmus)
- Opioid Use Disorder/Opiate Withdrawal
- Osteogenesis Imperfecta
- Progressive Degenerative Disc Disease of the Spine
Members of the public and those who submitted petitions who wish to speak will be able to sign up once they arrive to give testimony regarding a specific condition.
There are currently 22 conditions that may qualify adults for Connecticut’s Medical Marijuana Program, and 6 conditions for patients under 18. If the Board of Physicians recommends we add new conditions after the hearing, the commissioner will consider their recommendations, and upon consideration, formally add them to medical marijuana regulations.
There are currently 23,889 medical marijuana patients in the state, 834 physicians registered with the program, and 9 members of the Board of Physicians. More information about the process to add a debilitating condition to the program can be found here.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, and bring a state issued photo ID for entry into the building.
