Friday, July 1st, 2016 - The Board of Accountancy has moved from the Secretary of the State’s Office to the Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) as of July 1st, 2016.

This eight member board certifies, licenses, and regulates public accountants and certified public accountants (CPA) in conjunction with DCP.  Secretary of the State Denise Merrill and her staff, the eight members of the Board of Accountancy, the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, and the CTCPA all played essential roles in the transition of the Board of Accountancy to DCP.

The Board of Accountancy oversees the following program areas: licensing, continuing education, quality review, examination, regulation and discipline.

In conjunction with DCP staff, the Board seeks to maintain the highest ethical and operational standards for accountants and accountancy firms in the State of Connecticut.

As of July 1st, 2016, complaints regarding CPAs or public accountant fraud may be sent to dcp.frauds@ct.gov. All complaints regarding CPAs or public accountant fraud are now being received and processed by DCP.

If you have questions about licensing or certification, you may contact dcp.licenseservices@ct.gov. DCP can also be reached at 860-713-6100 or 800-842-2649 (Toll Free in CT).  More information is also available on DCP’s website at ct.gov/DCP.
