HARTFORD, June 7 – Customers of the now-closed “Frozen Ropes” baseball training club at 69 Kenoshia Avenue, Danbury have the opportunity to get the lessons they paid for, thanks to consumers who contacted the Department of Consumer Protection for help, and cooperation from a new owner.
Frozen Ropes closed its doors unexpectedly in February, leaving at least three customers worried about whether they would lose the money they had already paid for training. Consumer Protection investigators followed up, and with cooperation from the individual who has now bought the business, negotiated an agreement that addresses consumers’ concerns.
“New owner Enrico Treglia promises to honor unfulfilled consumer contracts left behind by the former business, and until the end of July, persons will be allowed to take any lessons they purchased at Frozen Ropes but did not receive,” Consumer Protection Commissioner William M. Rubenstein said today. “We appreciate that Mr. Treglia has agreed to help these consumers get a fair deal.”
Treglia’s club will open on Saturday, June 15th at the same location but with a new name, Sports Academy of Connecticut and New York. Anyone who had an unfulfilled contract with Frozen Ropes should contact Sports Academy of Connecticut and New York with a copy of that contract once the club opens next week.
Customers who experience any problems redeeming their contract may file a written complaint with the Department of Consumer Protection at dcp.frauds@ct.gov.
