Additional Benefits for SNAP-eligible Households
On October 22, 2021, the Connecticut Department of Social Services announced that a further $13 million in special food assistance benefits will be distributed on Sunday, October 24, 2021, to the families of over 34,800 children under age 6 and who are enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
The purchase of food online with SNAP benefits now includes partners Price Chopper, Aldi, Amazon, Walmart and ShopRite throughout Connecticut. The food can be ordered through a partnership with online grocery platform Instacart. DSS SNAP participants can shop via Instacart's website and mobile app for delivery curbside pickup.
