Transect Data | Water Data
Spring Lake is an 8-acre lake located in Southington, CT. About half of the lake is developed with residential areas spanning its southern and eastern sides. The lake is private and no public boating is allowed. Our September 2009 survey found four native and two invasive aquatic plants. The invasive species were minor naiad (Najas minor) and curlyleaf pondweed (Potamogeton crispus). Minor naiad carpeted the western cove of the lake, and curlyleaf pondweed occurred in small patches along the eastern and northern shores. The most prevalent native species was small pondweed (Potamogeton pusillus) which we found in the center of the lake in small patches. Watermeal (Wolffia species) covered the southeastern cove, and common duckweed (Lemna minor) was present in the two eastern coves.
