Route 7 Pond, Wilton
Route 7 Pond is an 9-acre pond located in Wilton, CT. There is no public access to this waterbody. A local outdoor sporting goods store conducts watersport outings and lessons there. The land around the pond is undeveloped and a railway runs along the eastern shoreline.
The 2013 CAES IAPP vegetative survey found the presence of 4 species. One species, Eurasian watermilfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum), was invasive. Eurasian watermilfoil and native coontail (Ceratophyllum demersum) were the co-dominant species in the pond. They were found growing throughout the lake under 5 meters of depth. Greater than 5 meters light did not reach the bottom of the pond and no plants were growing. Large-leaf pondweed (Potamogeton amplifolius) was found growing in medium to small patches close to the shoreline. Western waterweed (Elodea nuttallii) was the least common plant in the pond, growing in low abundance in three locations around the point in the middle of the southern shoreline.
