Muddy Pond is a 38-acre, man-made lake located in Woodstock, CT. The town beach on the eastern shore is limited to Woodstock residents, property owners, and their guests. Swimming, fishing, canoeing, and picnicking are allowed. There is no public boat access.

Our 2013 CAES IAPP survey found 14 species of aquatic plants in the lake. One species, variable-leaf watermilfoil (Myriophyllum heterophyllum), was invasive. Variable-Leaf watermilfoil was the most dominant plant, found in large patches around nearly the entire shoreline. It was not present directly in front of the town beach. Variable-Leaf watermilfoil was present in the northern and southern coves; however, it did not reach all the way to the shoreline.

White water lily (Nymphaea odorata) was the second most dominant plant in the lake. It was found in a large patch in the southern cove and the southwest shoreline. White water lily was also present in the northern cove and in several smaller patches around the lake. Common shoreline species growing include sevenangle pipewort (Eriocaulon aquaticum), spikerush (Eleocharis species), and golden hedge-hyssop (Gratiola aurea). Yellow water lily (Nuphar variegata) was present primarily in the northern cove with smaller patches along the western shoreline and southern cove. Watershield (Brasenia schreberi) was commonly found growing with white water lily but in lower abundance. Common bladderwort (Utricularia macrorhiza) and humped bladderwort (Utricularia gibba) were most commonly found as singular plants growing with white water lily and variable-leaf watermilfoil around the mid-western shore and throughout the southern cove. A single plant of marsh mermaid weed (Proserpinaca palustris) was found in the northern cove.
