Green Falls Reservoir is a 48.2-acre waterbody located within Pachaug State Forest. Its maximum depth is 26 feet, and its mean depth is 12 feet. There is a road that borders its northeastern side, which also includes a public boat launch and swimming area. No gas motors are allowed in the reservoir. There is no residential development, and the only break in the wooded buffer around the lake is the beach area.
During our August 2005 survey, purple bladderwort (Utricularia purpurea) was widespread around the edge of the reservoir. The deeper middle of the reservoir, measuring over 18 feet deep, had no observable vegetation during the survey.
Other aquatic species were found in smaller patches around the lake including low watermilfoil (Myriophyllum humile), floating bladderwort (Utricularia radiata), and sevenangle pipewort (Eriocaulon aquaticum). White water lily (Nymphaea odorata) was found on the north, west, and east sides while yellow water lily (Nuphar variegata) was found on the south, west. and north sides. Golden hedge-hyssop (Gratiola aurea) was only found on the east side. A sedge (Carex) was found on the north side, and needle spikerush (Eleocharis acicularis) was found on the south side.
