Fence Rock Lake, Guilford - 2009
2009 Aquatic Plant Survey of Fence Rock Lake
Our September 2009 survey found fifteen species of aquatic plants of which only Brazilian waterweed (Egeria densa) is invasive. Rarely found overwintering in CT, this occurrence of Brazilian waterweed was the first time it was documented by our formal surveys. Brazilian waterweed was mostly found in a medium patch on the northern shore of the western cove. Of the native plant species observed, the most common was low watermilfoil (Myriophyllum humile) which covered the eastern shores. White water lily (Nymphaea odorata) occurred sporadically along the shore.
