Elizabeth Park Pond is a 2.2-acre waterbody located in West Hartford, CT. Our CAES IAPP 2016 aquatic plant survey found no plant species present. Plant eating grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) are believed to be present in the pond and they may account for the lack of plants. An intense planktonic algal bloom was present which was likely promoted by excessive nutrients particularly phosphorus (see water data). The pond owners are considering diluting the pond with fresh water to alleviate the problem.
