2009 Aquatic Plant Survey Map of Deer Lake

Deer Lake is a 32-acre lake located in Killingworth, CT. Most of the lake is undeveloped and bordered by forest. The CAES IAPP September 2009 survey found 19 species of aquatic plants. Only fanwort (Cabomba caroliniana) was invasive, but it covered most of the lake except for the deepest points in the center. Watershield (Brasenia schreberi) and white water lily (Nymphaea odorata) were the dominant plants near the lake’s shore. Floating-Leaf pondweed (Potamogeton natans) was also present in patches along the shore.
