2005 Aquatic Plant Survey Map of Crescent Lake
Crescent Lake is a 35-acre body of water with dense residential development along its shore. There are no buffers but a large number of concrete retaining walls along the shoreline. On the southwest side of the lake is a correctional facility.
Our July 2005 survey revealed that white water lily (Nymphaea odorata) was the most abundant species, occurring in the southwestern section as well as small amounts along the eastern and western shores. The second most abundant species was leafy pondweed (Potamogeton foliosus), which occurred in patches along the west and east shores. Golden hedge-hyssop (Gratiola aurea), needle spikerush (Eleocharis acicularis), common duckweed (Lemna minor), and slender naiad (Najas flexilis) were all found in small patches near the beach in the eastern cove. The invasive minor naiad (Najas minor) was found in a small patch only on the eastern side of the lake.
