Upper Broad Brook Reservoir, East Windsor
Upper Broad Brook Reservoir is a small, 0.8-acre pond located in East Windsor, CT at East Windsor Park. The pond drains into Lower Broad Brook Reservoir via a pipe located in the east corner. The park's grass make up half of the shoreline while the other half is dense forest.
The 2012 CAES IAPP survey found the presence of 4 species of aquatic plants. One was invasive, Eurasian watermilfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum). This was the most commonly found plant in the pond. It was found growing across the entire bottom of the pond. Western waterweed (Elodea nuttallii), a native, was the second most common species. This plant was found growing in two large patches at either end of the pond and also two smaller patches in the center. The remaining species were found in low abundance: primrose-willow (Ludwigia species), and arrowhead (Sagittaria species).
The Lower Broad Brook Reservoir that Upper Broad Brook drains into was also surveyed in 2012.
