Bigelow Pond is a 25-acre natural pond located within Bigelow Hollow State Park. The maximum depth is 15.4 feet, and the mean depth is 7.5 feet. No residential development has been permitted near the pond; instead it is bordered by woodlands. A boat launch is located on the eastern shore; however, all gas-powered motors are prohibited.
Unidentified sedges were the most widespread vegetation, found in the waters of the north and middle sections of the pond at depths of less than 12 feet. White water lily (Nymphaea odorata) was observed on the edges of each island as well as on the shoreline on each side of the pond. Watershield (Brasenia schreberi) mostly occurred alongside white water lily but at deeper depths. The following species were found in small to medium size patches in the north section of the lake and around the large island in the middle of the lake: charaphytes (Chara), needle spikerush (Eleocharis acicularis), western waterweed (Elodea nuttallii), sevenangle pipewort (Eriocaulon aquaticum), quillwort (Isoëtes species), marsh primrose-willow (Ludwigia palustris), yellow water lily (Nuphar variegata), snailseed pondweed (Potamogeton bicupulatus), ribbon-leaf pondweed (Potamogeton epihydrus), variable pondweed (Potamogeton gramineus), arrowhead (Sagittaria species), hiddenfruit bladderwort (Utricularia geminiscapa) and slender naiad (Najas flexilis). Floating bladderwort (Utricularia radiata), common bladderwort (Utricularia macrorhiza), and purple bladderwort (Utricularia purpurea) also were found in small to medium patches in the same places as the aforementioned species, as well as in the south end of the lake.
