Government Fraud Section

 

The Government Fraud Section protects Connecticut tax dollars from fraud, waste, abuse, and corruption. The Section investigates and litigates civil matters under the Connecticut False Claims Act and other laws. The Section develops cases independently and in conjunction with other state and federal law enforcement agencies and with state agencies that pay, directly or indirectly, for goods and services with Connecticut tax dollars. The Section investigates whistleblower complaints concerning state departments, state agencies, quasi-public agencies, and large state contracts. The Section also enforces Connecticut’s pension revocation or reduction laws when any public official or state or municipal employee is convicted of or pleads guilty or nolo contendere to any crime related to state or municipal officeThe Section includes the Health Care Advocacy Unit, which provides advisory assistance to consumers who have health care related problems, particularly those that involve health insurance and managed care coverage denials.

HEALTH CARE ADVOCACY

 

The Health Care Advocacy (HCA) Unit provides advisory assistance to consumers who have health care related problems, particularly those that involve health insurance and managed care coverage denials.

 

You may:

  • Contact us by phone to discuss your concerns,
  • Use our online complaint form by clicking the “File an E-Complaint” link below (Note - when using this option, please select Healthcare Advocacy in the Complaint Subject field), or
  • Send in a written complaint describing the nature of your problem and the names of the organizations that you believe are the cause of that problem.

To facilitate inquiries into consumer complaints, we have developed a Health Care Authorization / Release Form (pdf 11kb) which complainants should complete and upload with an online complaint or attach to a written complaint.

 

Please be aware that we cannot act as a consumer's private attorney, but upon request we can and will assist consumers in pursuing administrative resolutions to health care problems.
