Attorney General Tong Statement on Sandy Hook Anniversary
(Hartford, CT) – Attorney General William Tong issued a statement on the eleventh anniversary of the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
“Today marks eleven years since we lost 26 beloved children and educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School to one of the most horrific acts of gun violence our civilization has ever endured. Our grief and collective trauma are compounded by the continued, relentless toll of the uniquely American horror of gun violence across our communities. Connecticut united behind some of the strongest gun safety laws in our country in the wake of Sandy Hook and has only strengthened those laws in the years since. On this painful anniversary, we honor the innocent lives lost with love and kindness, and with fierce commitment to vigorously defending our right and obligation to ending the epidemic of gun violence.”
