Attorney General Tong Statement on Treasurer Wooden
(Hartford, CT) – Attorney General William Tong released the following statement regarding the decision of State Treasurer Shawn T. Wooden not to seek re-election:“Treasurer Wooden and I were elected together and he has been a great partner over the past three and a half years. He has been an effective and responsible steward of the state’s financial and pension assets, and contributed significantly to our state’s strong financial standing. He has been a change maker nationwide on diversity and inclusion as the only Black elected Treasurer in the country, and has made Connecticut proud as the President of the National Association of State Treasurers. His commitment to his own family and to all Connecticut families—particularly through his historic Baby Bonds program—is commendable. I know this decision was not an easy one for him and I wish him and his family all the best.”
