Attorney General Tong Statement Ahead of 20th Anniversary of Sept. 11

(Hartford, CT) — Attorney General William Tong issued the following statement today ahead of the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

“It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years since the attacks on our country on September 11, 2001. Today we remember so many who did not come home on 9/11, and offer our love and support to the families, friends, and colleagues they left behind,” Attorney General Tong said. “Today I had the honor of joining families at Norwalk City Hall to remember the thousands who we lost, including many brave and dedicated first responders. I remember my high school friend Todd Issac who worked at Cantor Fitzgerald. I also am grateful for the people who did come home on 9/11, including my sister who did not go to work that day for some reason at 7 World Trade Center, and so many close friends who survived the horrific events that day. Many of us feel the urge to do something meaningful today. One of the most meaningful things we can do is teach our children about that day and give them the same spirit of grace, kindness and service to each other.”
