Statement from AG Jepsen on State Treasurer Nappier's Announcement
Attorney General George Jepsen today issued the following statement on State Treasurer Denise Nappier's announcement that she will not seek re-election.
"It has been an honor to have known Denise Nappier personally and professionally for nearly 40 years. Denise and I first worked together on Chris Dodd's campaign for the United States Senate in 1980. Since then, I have been continuously impressed by her tireless energy and fierce commitment to public service. She was a pioneer when elected as the nation's first African-American woman State Treasurer, and over her five successful terms she has been a prudent manager of the state's finances and a strong voice for corporate responsibility. I will miss sharing the 7th floor of 55 Elm Street in Hartford with her and wish her all the best in the future."
