Attorney General Jepsen Elected Eastern Region Chair of
National Association of Attorneys General
Attorney General George Jepsen today was elected chair of the Eastern Region of the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG). His one-year term as chair begins on June 21.
“One of the most interesting aspects of my work as Attorney General has been collaborating with attorneys general of other states on such pro-consumer issues as the national foreclosure settlement, e-books, antitrust matters and social media privacy concerns,” said Attorney General Jepsen. “What we have shown is that, by working on a bipartisan basis, we can produce meaningful positive outcomes for the public that would not be possible as a single state. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as chair of the Eastern Region and to continue this good, cooperative work on behalf of the people of Connecticut.”
In chairing the Eastern Region, Attorney General Jepsen will serve as a member of NAAG’s Executive Committee. He also serves as co-chair of NAAG’s Standing Committee on Antitrust.
Founded in 1907, NAAG facilitates interaction among Attorneys General as peers, thereby enhancing the performance of Attorneys General and their staffs to respond effectively to emerging state and federal legal issues.
NAAG coordinates state-federal working groups on topics of mutual concern; plans and executes a continuing legal education program for state lawyers; and publishes written reports, monographs, and more than a dozen newsletters on a wide range of substantive topics. NAAG also serves as liaison to the federal government in a variety of areas, including environment, consumer protection, criminal law and appellate advocacy.
