Connecticut State Department of Education Releases New Connecticut Special Education Employment System (CSEES)
Portal will assist school districts in filling critical special education positions
(Hartford, CT) – The Connecticut State Department of Education is pleased to announce the release of the Connecticut Special Education Employment System (CSEES), comprehensive recruitment system with the goal of connecting job seekers to available positions in their communities. The CSEES is available to schools and districts at no cost and can be accessed at www.specialedjobs.ct.gov.
The CSEES is an easy-to-use resource with the goal of developing short term staffing solutions while building long-term pipelines of qualified talent available for employment within Connecticut. CSEES will complement the Connecticut Regional Education Applicant Placement (CTREAP) system with a particular focus on special education and related services vacancies involving local and national recruiting components. Schools and districts will populate the system by posting job vacancies based upon their current individualized needs.
“CSEES is an important component of CSDE’s multifaceted approach and commitment to supporting local efforts to address the issue of educator shortages,” said Education Commissioner Charlene M. Russell-Tucker. “I encourage our districts to utilize this resource to enhance district’s recruitment of special education and related services personnel during this time of critical need.
This $230,000 investment is the result of a partnership with the Center for Technical Assistance for Excellence in Special Education (TAESE) and is funded through of American Rescue Plan (ARP) Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER) Federal Relief funds to address an identified need within our state. TAESE designed the CSEES and monitors activities within the system to provide ongoing support to job seekers and schools/districts.
The CSDE is committed to ensuring that districts can hire and retain a diverse educator workforce, including staff in the field of special education and related services. This past year alone, the CSDE rolled out multiple initiatives to support hiring and retaining educators, including the Enhanced Northeastern Reciprocity Initiative, a grant program to subsidize testing and certification costs, as well as a loan subsidization program through the Connecticut Higher Education Supplemental Loan Authority (CHESLA) for aspiring educators working in Alliance Districts.
