Connecticut Department of Education Issues Renewed Call for Stakeholder Input on State ARP ESSER Plan

(Hartford) – Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) Chief of Staff Laura Stefon today issued the following message regarding CSDE’s invitation to educational stakeholders and members of the public to submit their input on the state’s plan for use of American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ARP ESSER) funding:

“Last week, we announced we are seeking input from stakeholders to help inform the development of our ARP ESSER state plan which must be submitted to the U.S. Department of Education by June 7, 2021.

“Engaging in continued two-way dialogue with stakeholders is a priority for CSDE as we craft a state plan that best supports students’ academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs, as well as the needs of our educators and school communities. Therefore, this Thursday and Friday, May 20th and 21st, we are holding two stakeholder engagement sessions designed to facilitate discussion - each will last approximately two hours.”

“Both sessions are planned for small working groups to take part in discussion facilitated by the State Education Resource Center (SERC) using the CSDE Public and Stakeholder Input Form. The sessions will be recorded for transcription purposes, and notetakers will also be present to capture the feedback of stakeholders.

“We also welcome written feedback submitted to the dedicated ARP ESSER email address using either the CSDE Public and Stakeholder Input Form (preferred) or free written response: SDE.ARPESSER@ct.gov

“We encourage you to attend one of the public forums we are holding in conjunction with SERC (registration information can be found here) and/or fill out and submit the CSDE Public and Stakeholder Input Form. Please take advantage of these opportunities to contribute your unique perspective to the creation of Connecticut’s ARP ESSER plan for addressing the academic, social, emotional and mental health needs of students; supporting districts and the educator workforce; and reopening schools safely.”
