Peer Learning Opportunities

Overview

To support districts and schools in improving student attendance and engagement, CSDE offers two peer learning opportunities Below please find the description, audience and objectives for Talk Tuesdays and the Student Attendance & Engagement Community of Practice.

Attendance & Engagement Statewide Forums (4).

Join CSDE, SERC and districts from across the state to explore and share research and lessons learned to address student attendance and engagement. Each of the four Attendance Forums will allow participants to dive deeper into evidence-based strategies and interventions. Many of which will draw from Attendance Playbook: Smart Solutions for Reducing Chronic Absenteeism in the COVID Era (FutureEd).

Objectives: Participants will: 1) learn about short-term and long-term strategies and interventions that work, 2) hear from districts with experience and knowledge, 3) have an opportunity to break-out into small discussion groups to learn from each other; and 4) bring ideas back to school/district to implement or explore further.

Target Audience: District and school attendance teams

Schedule: To be announced (watch for registration)

Talk Tuesdays:

Talk Tuesdays are informal information sharing sessions that provide district and school staff an opportunity to support each other and their work to improve student attendance and engagement. Virtual sessions are quick a way to stay in touch with a network of support. One hour sessions are held every other Tuesday and engage state agency, district and school staff in an open dialogue around student attendance and engagement. Learn more on the Talk Tuesday webpage!

Objectives: The objectives of Talk Tuesdays are to:1) stay up-to-date on state policies, practices, events and issues; 2) share successes and lessons learned, 3) trouble-shoot common concerns and 4) provide overall support to each other.  Participants help identify the topics for future meetings, present problems of practice, and spend time together expanding our knowledge and capacity to engage students in school.

Target Audience:  Meetings are open to anyone working to improve engagement and attendance – school, district and community members.

Schedule: Sessions are held virtually on alternating Tuesday mornings, 10 to 11:00 a.m. A one-time registration is required.  – Talk Tuesdays are a “drop-in” opportunity that is available as participant schedules permit. Subscribe to Talk Tuesday listserv below to receive notifications.
