LT. GOVERNOR BYSIEWICZ SWEARS IN MILLIE TORRES-FERGUSON AS DMV DEPUTY COMMISSIONER

Sworn in during Women’s History Month – Millie is the first Latina to be appointed to the role

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Friday, Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz swore in Millie Torres-Ferguson as Deputy Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Torres-Ferguson is the first Latina to be appointed to the role.

“Millie is exactly the right person to help lead this vital state agency, and will be an integral part of building upon the great progress made at the DMV,” said Lt. Governor Bysiewicz. “It’s critical that we have passionate and dedicated leaders at all levels of government in order to continue creating a state that uplifts all our residents. Millie is more than prepared to help lead the DMV and I am honored to help swear her in.”

A longtime resident of Meriden, Torres-Ferguson has dedicated much of her career to public service – with experience in the state legislature, the executive branch, and as the DMV’s legislative director for six years.
