2025 National Crime Victims' Rights Week (NCVRW)

Every April, the Office of The Victim Advocate observes National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW). With the help of our Governor, we also proclaim it to be Connecticut Victims' Rights Week. During this special observance we take the time to honor crime victims and survivors, recognize the professionals and volunteers who provide critical services to victims of crime, and raise awareness about crime victims’ rights and services. This year Crime Victims' Rights Week will be commemorated April 6–12, 2025.

It was wonderful to see familiar faces and forge new connections. If you missed any part of the program or would like to share the event with your colleagues, you can view it here via CTN. We are thankful for the chance to serve our state and collaborate with incredible individuals along the way. Celebrating 25 years of service has allowed us to reflect on our journey and has invigorated us for the work that lies ahead.

2024 National Crime Victims' Rights Week (NCVRW)

How would you help? Options, services, and hope for crime survivors. The 2024 theme asks all of us—friends, family members, neighbors, colleagues, community leaders, victim service providers, criminal justice practitioners, and health professionals—how we can help crime victims.
Are you prepared if someone confides in you about a victimization? Is your organization victim-centered and trauma-informed?
Are you familiar with the services available in your community?
This year’s theme is a call to action for us all to create safe environments for crime victims to share what happened to them. By doing so, we’re able to offer support, options for life-saving services, and, most importantly, hope.

The OVA partnered with CCSU Women's Center and worked with CCSU intern to create a career and service focused event to shed light on the possibilities to students. Thank you to the Record Journal for the article feature found here.

2023 National Crime Victims' Rights Week (NCVRW)

Since 1981, National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW) has challenged the Nation to confront and remove barriers to achieving justice for all victims of crime. During NCVRW, we celebrate the accomplishments of the victims’ rights movement and reflect on how far we have come.

The 2023 NCVRW theme is Survivor Voices: Elevate. Engage. Effect Change. This year's theme calls upon communities to amplify the voices of survivors and create environments where survivors have the confidence that they will be heard, believed, and supported.

NCVRW will be commemorated April 23–29, 2023
