HMIS Wage and Labor Data Match (Data Request #0035)

This is a recurring data match of HMIS clients in need of housing with wage data. The purpose of this match is to obtain accurate income and employer data, which HMIS does not collect. Income and employment is currently self-reported. This match will help CCEH understand which programs a client may be eligible for based on income to get them housed. This data request is tied to the Overcoming Barriers topic in the P20 WIN Learning Agenda.

Manufacturing Skills for CT Project (Data Request #0034)

Connecticut manufacturers have identified significant gaps in the state’s workforce development system. This project will develop educational best-practices that manufacturers, and school systems can use to identify and scale effective K-12 manufacturing career pathways. This grant was awarded to CONNSTEP through the US Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards and Technology Manufacturing Extension Program Competitive Awards Program.

The overarching goals of this project are twofold: (1) to expand the availability and quality of K-12 programs aimed at preparing students for manufacturing careers at all skill levels, from entry level to engineering, to both increase and diversify the highly qualified labor pool; and (2) to accelerate the growth of the manufacturing sectors across CT, New England, and nationally through the MEP network. The final product will articulate best practices and recommend standards for K-12 manufacturing preparation programs as it builds a sustainable infrastructure for supporting program development and quality across the state.

Homelessness and Employment (Data Request #0033)

This data request is a one-time match of the Homelessness Management Information System (HMIS) and the DOL CTHires data to better understand how people experiencing homelessness are accessing the public workforce system. This match will specifically identify how many people are utilizing both the homeless and workforce systems, which will assist CCEH, United Way 2-1-1 and other partners develop a referral system for people experiencing homelessness.

IDEA Part B Indicator 14: Post School Outcomes (Data Request 0032)

This request uses DOL employment and wage data to evaluate the percent of youth in Connecticut who are no longer in secondary school, had IEPs in effect at the time they left school, and were (1) enrolled in higher education within one year of leaving high school; (2) enrolled in higher education or competitively employed within one year of leaving high school; and (3) enrolled in higher education or in some other postsecondary education or training program; or competitively employed or in some other employment within one year of leaving high school.

This request is informed by the requirements of Part B of the IDEA, the federal law that makes a free appropriate public education available to eligible students with disabilities, age 3 through 21 years of age, and ensures special education and related services to those students. Under the IDEA Part B, each state is required to develop a SPP/APR that evaluates its efforts to implement the purposes and requirements of the IDEA and describe how it will improve its implementation.
