2019 Schedule and Rules

The Great Park Pursuit is a six-week contest that has registered teams (with at least one adult 18 years or older and one child under 18) discovering parks and forests across the state and participating in fun activities and challenges – all for a chance to win a prize. Unregistered teams are also welcome to attend and enjoy the events, though they will not be tracked for prize purposes.

Teams will receive No Child Left Inside® wristbands at the first event, and teams are encouraged to wear these wristbands to all Great Park Pursuit events.

Each week during the course of The Great Park Pursuit, teams will be provided with detailed information about the upcoming weekend event at one of Connecticut's parks or forests by Thursday at 9 am on the website. Also keep a lookout for our Mascot Nuts 2 who will be providing teams with additional information each week.

At each guided event, teams will be asked to complete 4 activities and each team must turn in the official stamped activity card with their team name filled-in on the card at the end of each event day. Teams will be awarded 1 point for each park visited.

Four of the parks in the game require attendance on specific Saturdays. To receive points for these "guided" events, teams must have at least one team member over 18 and one team member under 18 check-in anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and participate in four activities.  Teams will be required to hand in the official stamped activity card with their teams name filled-in on the card at the end of each event day.

Please note this year that guided events will take place from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm and that families must check-in by 2:00 pm in order to participate in the activities and receive credit.

Two events in The Great Park Pursuit are "semi-guided" events-Memorial Day Weekend and Trails Day Weekend.  For the semi-guided events, the Teams will have various locations, times and activities to participate in. There will be various options for different skill levels on each semi-guided weekend. For Memorial Day Weekend, each team member must wear their wristband to ensure free admission to the State Owned Nature Center or Museum. Full details will be revealed in website updates as the event approaches.  The proof of attendance at these semi-guided events will be a photo of your Team taken on the day of the event at a designated location with the designated Great Park Pursuit sign, and/or with Nuts 2 the GPP Mascot.  The photo for these "semi-guided" events will need to be either turned in at the next guided event or emailed to DEEP.NoChildLeftInside@ct.gov by the Monday following the event.
