NCLI's Great Outdoor Pursuit 2021 Family Adventure Program

The Great Outdoor Pursuit 2021 Family Adventure encouraged families to get outside and explore many of the CT DEEP State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management Areas as well as local areas (backyard, neighborhood, park, forest, schoolyard, and land trust) this summer during the months of June, July and August.
  • Registered families from across the State of CT were provided with weekly information, maps, and children's book connections, as well as a mix of self-guided and in-person activities for them to enjoy Connecticut's great outdoors together.
  • Weekly adventures had families searching for a variety of "features" such as gardens and waterfalls; taking part in fun activities while outside in nature; and photo journaling their experiences during the summer program.
  • Families who registered were invited and encouraged to attend in-person programs being offered at DEEP's Education and Outreach locations, Nature Centers, Museums, Visitor's Centers, and Wildlife Management Areas across CT.
  • Families who registered were invited to in-person NCLI Family Outdoor Discovery Days in July, August and October (Fishing Day, Boating Day, Forestry Day and an NCLI Family Campout.
NCLI's squirrel mascot, Nuts 2, joined the families and shared in the Great Outdoor Pursuit program this summer as well.

It is safe to say that our families had fun and stayed safe while exploring outdoors and in nature.
