DEEP is excited to be getting back to our "New Normal," consistent with the direction of Governor Lamont, and as a result of the rapidly improving COVID-19 situation in Connecticut. Starting no later than June 1, all customer facing services will resume normal business operations. For detailed information, for what this means at DEEP, and for the public we serve, visit our "New Normal" website: DEEP New Normal

NCLI's Great Outdoor Pursuit 2021 Family Adventure Program

The Great Outdoor Pursuit 2021 Family Adventure encourages families to get outside and explore many of the CT DEEP State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management Areas as well as local areas (backyard, neighborhood, park, forest, schoolyard, and land trust) over a 3 month period in June, July and August.  Registered families will be provided with weekly clues, maps, and children's book connections, as well as a mix of self-guided and in-person activities for them to enjoy Connecticut's great outdoors together.  Families who register will be invited and encouraged to attend in-person programs being offered at DEEP's Education and Outreach locations, Nature Centers, Museums, Visitor's Centers, and Wildlife Management Areas across CT.  Weekly adventures will have families searching for a variety of "features" such as gardens and waterfalls; taking part in fun activities while outside in nature; and photo journaling their experiences.

NCLI's squirrel mascot, Nuts 2, is ready to share in the Great Outdoor Pursuit this summer with your family.  Bring him along with you on your families outdoor adventures.  After registering, you'll receive a Nuts 2 cut-out that you can print, color and decorate.  Be sure to include him in your photos and specifically within your photo journal submittal at the end of the program.

We are asking families to visit the nochildleftinside.org website and register by creating their team beginning on Saturday May 29, 2021.  The Great Outdoor Pursuit Program will end on Saturday August 28, 2021  and photo journal submittals are due on Saturday September 4, 2021.  Registration is rolling this year to encourage more families to participate at their convenience and to expand NCLI's reach across the state throughout this summer season.
