All fully submitted and eligible applications are expected to be funded by UniteCT. Please note as you wait for approval, the program intends to pay for the tenant’s rental arrears up to the month when the Case Supervisor approves the file, not to exceed $15,000 or 12 months of rental assistance. Tenants will no longer receive three months of prospective rent because the program closed for these types of prospective requests on February 15th, 2022. If a tenant does not owe rental arrears at the time the Case Supervisor reviews the application, the application will be Closed.

On February 15th, 2022 the UniteCT program suspended new rent and electric application submissions and recertification intake.  Tenants and landlords who had a Rent Relief Case # had until March 31st, 2022 to complete their applications.  Any cases not fully completed by March 31st, 2022 were withdrawn from the case review process. All tenants and landlords with an incomplete application were sent an email on February 16th describing the process. Select here to view the letter. UniteCT staff will continue reviewing and processing applications after March 31st until funding is no longer available.

Landlords may submit bank account information through the Yardi software for direct deposit or request a check be mailed to the addressed used on the application.  The system will then send landlords a “penny test” where they receive a couple cents to their account. Landlords will then go back to their account portal and submit how many cents they received, and then their account will be verified. All verified accounts are ready to receive funding once their tenant’s application has been approved.

Direct deposit is preferred for accurate and timely delivery of funds, however, a check could be executed and mailed to the landlord’s address give on the application.

Landlord accounts are locked when they save certain parts of the application. Please do not add false information to your profile. If you do not have all the information available at the time of your application, you can log in at another time and submit the accurate information. If a field is showing that it is not editable, please send an email to DOH-UniteCT@ct.gov with a screenshot of your problem, and we will ask our tech support team to address your issue.  

If your address is not showing up in the system and it’s an apartment, try including the unit number in the first address line along with the street address. If this is still not working, send an email to DOH-UniteCT@ct.gov with a screenshot of your problem, and we will ask our tech support team to manually add your address.  

This means that the tenant has linked their account to another landlord. In order to override this message, please send an email to DOH-UniteCT@ct.govwith your case number and screenshot of the problem. 

The system will only allow the tax ID to be uploaded to one landlord account. If multiple landlords have different tenants who fall under the same tax ID, please choose one landlord to be the “parent” account. This landlord can go into their application, add the tax ID, then add other landlords to their account by clicking on the “user” tab and adding each landlord as a new user. Once a landlord is added as a user, they will be able to access the same tax ID number as the parent account.  

If you go under the “tenant” tab, there will be a green check mark next to all the tenants who have been submitted successfully. You do not have to submit all tenants together at the same time. 

You can edit the tenant email address by clicking the “edit” button in the top right corner of the “tenant” tab. If the system is not allowing you to edit, please email DOH-UniteCT@ct.gov with your case number and a screenshot of your problem.  

It’s possible that your tenant does not know they have to submit an application if you already submitted. This is not true – both parties must submit in order for an application to be reviewed. Please remind them to check their email address for an invite link. Landlords can override this error. Landlords should log into their account and click on the “tenant” tab and add the tenant who has already submitted their account. Please note, all tenant information must match up perfectly (i.e. name, email address, and household address) in order for the system to link these two accounts. *If the tenant has not submitted their application yet, they can go back and edit their landlord’s email address.  

The Participation Agreement has been updated to reflect the UniteCT program changes, for anyone who has been funded the Department will be reaching back out to pay the landlords the 15% that was originally meant to be forgiven.  In addition, cases that were submitted before the updates will be receiving an update with the new terms in their online application.  The terms of UniteCT are found in the Program Participation Agreement.

1. Reach out to your case auditor to indicate there will be a check returned.
2. Write a check and make the checks payable to "Yardi Systems Inc" 
3. The memo must include the Tenant’s name and “Case #” which can be found in your UniteCT application – if you have multiple Tenants, make sure to use the Case # connected to the appropriate tenant

Common reasons landlords must return funding (other situations may exist):

1. Tenant moved out prior to the end of the period paid for by UniteCT;
2. Landlord was overpaid on an application;
3. Landlord had multiple identical applications processed and paid erroneously;
4. Landlord violated the terms of the UniteCT Participation Agreement after being paid.

It is ok to move the money within the organization, as long as the EIN number is the same for both rent units. If the tenant comes back for recertification in three months, they would need to do a new application because they would have a new lease with the new apartment number.

The 2021 1099’s were emailed to the email addresses landlords provided on the UniteCT Rent Relief application.

A paper copy was also mailed to the rental property address.

Yardi is UniteCT’s software consultant that issued the 1099.

Please email unitect1099@ct.gov. Please put the case # in the subject line of the e-mail and describe the errors in the body of the e-mail.

Contact your tenant and ask them to login to their application portal. Ask them to make sure that they fully completed their Rental Info tab. Even if there is a blue checkmark next to that section, it might be incomplete. Once your tenant completes that section, you should be able to log into your portal and see their application. Also within your Tenant tab, make sure your tenant's name, email address, phone number, and address match exactly how they submitted it in their application. If the problem still remains, contact your local UniteCT Resource Center. 

Please ensure your tenant has filled out their Rental Info section. Sometimes tenants will fully submit their applications without actually filling out their Rental Info tab, and if this section is left blank, the case will not link to the landlord's portal.
