Position Title:
Correctional Captain

Location:
Central Office-PREA Unit (Located in Cheshire, CT)
Hours:
Monday-Friday, 1st Shift, 40 Hours per week
Salary:
$75,352.00 -$99,557.00 (Annually)

Please Note: This position will not receive meal allowance and may be subject to travel throughout the state.
Eligibility Requirement:
Department of Correction employees on the DAS certified exam list for Correctional Captain, or current DOC employees holding the above title or those who have previously attained permanent status in the class may apply for lateral transfer.
General Experience: Five (5) years of experience in correctional work
Preferred Experience:
Candidates with the following experience, skills, and abilities will be given preference:
  • Knowledge of the Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003
  • Experience with AD 6.12
  • Knowledge of DOJ National Standards and CT General Statutes; PA. 108-79
  • Interview and Investigation skills
  • Superior Oral and Written Communication skills
  • Demonstrated Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to Build Relationships with Staff, Offenders and Outside Agencies
  • Demonstrated Ability to Meet Timelines
  • Excellent Organizational skills
  • Considerable computer skills to include Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, including knowledge and understanding of SABA (LMS).
