                              STATE POLICE PURSUE EVADING CAR

  

   Today, shortly after 7:00 a.m., State Police responded to an accident scene on I-84 westbound near exit #10 where one vehicle involved fled from the accident scene.  A description of the evading car was broadcast to all Troopers and a short time later, the evading car was observed by a Trooper on patrol.  The Trooper activated his lights and siren in an attempt to stop the evading car.  The driver refused to stop and increased his speeds to 60-80 mph. All surrounding police were advised of the chase. The Trooper chased the offender for several miles but it was terminated.  All police agencies were advised of the description of the offending vehicle.

   A short time later, Ansonia police advised Troop A that the suspect car was located in their town.  The suspect operator fled on foot from the car and was apprehended shortly thereafter by Ansonia Police. Troopers responded to Ansonia and took the suspect into custody.  The suspect was transported to Troop A Southbury where he was charged with numerous offenses related to this incident.

                     Attempted Assault on Police Officer

                     Reckless Driving

                     Reckless Endangerment

                     Possession Of cocaine

                     Possession with intent to sell

                     Disregarding STC SIGNS

   The accused is being held on $100,000 bond and will be presented in Superior court in Danbury on 09/21/10.
