ESCAPEE SURRENDERS, RETURNS TO JAIL

   On Monday, 09/08/08, the escapee DAVID PATTERSON, utilizing the services of his attorney, peacefully surrendered to authorities without incident.  The escapee was returned to the custody of the Department of Corrections, where he will be held until 10/03/08 his next appearance in court.

      There is no additional investigation into this incident and this case is closed.

        On Friday 09/05/08 shortly after 3:25 p.m, State Police at Troop I in Bethany was notified of an escape from custody at the lock up at Superior Court GA #23 121 Elm St. in New Haven. 

      A prisoner being held in lock up, identified as David Patterson DOB 08/13/87 LKA 228 Quinnipiac Avenue of New Haven was accidentally released from custody by State Judicial Marshals. The prisoner walked away from GA-23 New Haven Court House located at 121 Elm Street in New Haven. Inmate Patterson was in custody for an assault and was scheduled to be sentenced by the court on 10/03/08. 

       State Police personnel, New Haven Police, and Hamden Police responded to the New Haven area. Several locations were searched including the last known addresses. The escapee was not located.  All areas police departments were advised of this escape from custody. 

      On Saturday 09/06/08 State Police and New Haven Police are continuing to search for this escapee. He is believed to still be in the New Haven area.  

      Inmate Patterson is described as a black male  5' 8"  140 lbs, black hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing black jeans and a white T-shirt.

State Police are asking anyone who sees PATTERSON or knows his whereabouts to call State Police at Troop I (203) 393-4200 or send an anonymous TEXT A TIP  by texting any information to 274637 (CRIMES).  Begin the text by typing  TIP711 and then type your tip.  Any information will be kept in confidence.
