Armed Robbery at Montville Gas Station

Results in Arrest

On Tuesday night, August 12th 2008 at approximately 10:10 p.m. State Troopers from Troop E Montville and Officers from the Montville Resident Trooper's Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Stop & Shop Gas Station on Route 32 (#2020 Route 32) in Montville. 

Upon arrival within minutes, it was determined that a male banishing a knife had approached two female employees as they were closing up the gas station and forced the two employees back into the gas station. The employees were forced to give the suspect cash deposit bags  containing an undetermined amount of cash.

Prior to the arrival of police personnel the suspect fled the premises. A state trooper and his assigned K9 tracked and located the suspect a short distance away in heavy brush. The suspect did not comply with officers commands and became combative. The suspect was subsequently apprehended and bit by the State Police K-9. The suspect continued to be highly combative and was then tasered in order to gain control of him and place him into custody.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to Backus Hospital for treatment of injuries. The suspect was then transported to Troop E in Montville and held on a bond. Detectives from Eastern District Major Crimes Squad responded to the scene to assist in this investigation. The stolen money and weapon were recovered at the scene.
