   STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE POLICE SHOOTING IN BRIDGEPORT,
                                        ARREST MADE
   
   On 10/01/07, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Branford Police Department - assisted by the FBI, Norwalk Police, Trumbull Police and Bridgeport Police - were attempting to serve search and seizure warrants in relation to an ongoing investigation at a Bridgeport business located at 2394 East Main Street in Bridgeport.  

   Police entered the business establishment and encountered two male subjects.  The first male exited the area without incident but, as Officers entered the office area of the business, the second male pulled a weapon and fired multiple gunshots at the officers.  Officer returned fire striking the suspect in the arm and hand. No injuries were sustained by the officers.  

   The Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime Squad responded to this scene to conduct the investigation into this police shooting. Also assisting is the Bridgeport State's Attorney.

   The suspect was transported to Bridgeport Hospital where he was treated and released.
The subject was then taken into custody by State Police.

CHARGES:Attempted Assault 
             Assault on a  Police Officer 
             Reckless Endangerment 
             Unlawful discharge of the firearm

   Accused being held on $150,000 bond to appear at Superior court today 10/02/07 in Bridgeport
