DEMHS Announces the Release of Round 4 of the School Security Competitive Grant Program (SSCGP)

Application Period Closes December 4, 2018

The Division of Emergency Managemant and Homeland Security (DEMHS) is pleased to announce the release of the 2018 School Security Competitive Grant Program. This fourth round of the competitive grant program is a component of Public Act 18-178 and is jointly administered by the State Department of Education (SDE), Department of Administrative Services (DAS) and the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DESPP/DEMHS).

This program is divided into two subprograms (separate applications are labeled and attached):

  1. Public Schools: Including Local and Regional Boards of Education, State Technical Schools, Regional Educational Service Centers, Charter Schools and Private Endowed High Schools or Academies associated with school districts.
  2. Non-Public Schools: Includes private schools throughout the State of Connecticut, as well as Eligible Licensed Preschool and Childcare Centers that have received threats.

These grants may reimburse school districts for a portion of the costs associated with making safety and security improvements to their schools/facilities. Eligible projects that are completed between January 1, 2013 and June 30, 2021 may be applied for under this program.
